It’s great to have a penpal whom you can talk to about all your problems. It is often difficult to communicate your problems to your close friends. In fact it is easier to talk to an online friend. I have felt it myself. It is easier to open up to a person who is not sitting face to face with you. A friend of mine, Anthony has been talking to me for quite some time through Penpal-friends. He has become more of an agony aunt for me rather than a friend. Whenever I fall into trouble or have a personal problem I turn to him for advice. I remember once when I had a terrible fight with one of my brothers. The situation was actually very silly and childish. He was seeing a girl whom I didn’t like.

I felt the girl to be to over the top and didn’t want him to get involved with her. However he refused to listen to me. We had a terrible fight one day and decided not to talk to each other. I was very angry with him and this made me utterly frustrated with every other day. I once told all this to Anthony. He replied that he knew exactly what I was going through. Every day he told me to go and apologize to my brother but I refused to do so. However I finally relented and said sorry. My brother meanwhile had realized his mistake and apologized too. Thanks to my penpal Anthony who brought my brother closer to me.

Helping to Meet New Friends

Penpal-Friends helps me to meet new friends and to stay connected with the old ones. I am a net geek. In short I like to spend all my waking hours in front of my PC. I have numerous online friends and keep in touch with them regularly. Whether it’s Paul from Australia, Neil from Canada or Liu from Japan, I have several penpals from different parts of the world and Penpal-Friends helps me to connect and reconnect with them on a daily basis. It becomes so much easier to make friends with somebody completely unknown with the help of this site.

You simply need to log in and browse through the several profiles and you get to know about so many people. I, for one, come to know about so many different cultures at one go. My Japanese friend shares recipes with me and I try them out while I learn a lot about guitar from my Australian friend who is a great guitarist. He talks to me about the small little details about playing the guitar and it’s a treat talking to him. Neil is working as a bank agent at one of the well known companies in Canada. He talks to me about the various kinds of people he has to deal with in his profession. He is a really funny guy and his conversations are really interesting. If this site was not there to help I would not have been able to get such nice penpals.

Deciding To Quit

I worked as a clerk for sometime at a reputable institution. However I was not happy with my job profile. It was one of my childhood dreams to become a creative artist. I was really confused whether I should quit my job and seek for professional artistic training full time. I asked for advice from some penpals of mine whom I had been talking to for quite some now. One of my penpals Harry is a special friend. I had once given him with a Rolling Stones CD that was not available in the market.

He had been really grateful back then and we have been talking regularly through mails and chats since them. It was Harry who told me that I should make up my mind about my future. He said it was my decision whether I wanted to do just a job or do a job that I liked. Harry convinced me to quit because he told me that I would never be happy this way. So instead of sitting cooped up in an office I decided to pursue my dreams as per Harry’s advice. Now I am doing what I love. I am learning the techniques of modern art from an institute and am also taking classes of new students. It is not only contributing to my pocket money but I am also satisfied with what I do. Thanks to Harry my penpal who had convinced me to take the right decision back then.

Sharing Recipes Online

I am a real food addict and I like to try different kinds of recipes from all across the globe. Whether it is on the internet or in recipe books I like to try out different cuisines from various countries. This interest of mine often lands me into trouble. To be precise some of them don’t turn out to be edible finally. However I am till very enthusiastic about cooking new kind of stuff every day. One of my penpal friends Mary shares this habit. We often swap recipes with each other.

It is a great feeling when you come to know that someone you don’t know is almost like you. It’s great sharing your experiences with this special person. For example Mary and I share our experiences in the kitchen. I tell her about the accidents I have had to handle because of my forgetfulness. Mary on the other had tells me about people’s reactions when they eat food she cooks. We have had so many animating discussions with each other that she has become one of my closest friends now. If it was not for penpals I wouldn’t have known Mary at all.

Found My Soul Mate

I was a teenager at that time. One night when I was browsing the net and was chatting with my friends from pen pals, I came across a profile of someone called Jack. He was an ex student in the same institute where I have always wanted to join after my graduation. When I approached him, he was very nice, decent and helpful. He promised me to provide me with all the detail requirements. And he did.

With his guidelines I could find the proper channels and applied. I was admitted to the institution without facing any problems. I later found that he was actually my senior and we were from the same departments.

Gradually our attachment grew and we exchanged our photographs. In his photograph, he was a cute young boy, with a cute ponytail in his head, whom anybody will fall for. And I was not an exception. I fell in love with that guy but was scared to ask him out on a date. What if he disliked me after we met? However one day he finally asked me out. From then on we kept on meeting here and there. In the following month he took me out for a candle light dinner where he formally asked for my hand in marriage. I am now happily married to him for more than a year.

My Friend Helped Me To Get A Rare CD

Kaustav is my friend from India with whom I met through pen pals. It is the love for music that compels us to chat with each other quiet often. He is very interested in western classical music and he is especially crazy about compositions by Beethoven. I often send CDs to him.

It is known to him that I have a special fascination for eastern classical music. The Indian ragas, I feel, have a special appeal, which you can hardly find anywhere. He is excellent in keyboards and often sends me his piece of composition, which he plays on his keyboard. He also let’s me hear whenever he creates any new composition and wants my feedback.

One day when we were chatting about instrumental music, I told him that I was desperately searching for the album of east-west fusion music where Ravi Shankar, the legendary Sitar player and Yehudi Menuhin, another legend in violin, performed together. I could not find it anywhere. In the next week I got a sweet surprise through courier. It carried a CD of the album. It was Kaustav who sent me the CD.

Getting An Old Friend Back

It was during those days when I did not get enough time to get in touch with old friends except some chatting at night. After a tiring day in the office, my penpals were my only refreshment. I used to chat with some of the friends whom I got to know through penpals. I was very choosy about friend requests as I was not interested to chat with anybody and everybody.

One day I got a mail from someone called Mary. When I searched her profile through pen pals, I found that she was from the very school where I used to study in my childhood. As my parents relocated to some other city, I lost all contacts with my old friends and was admitted to another school.

While walking down memory lane, I accepted the friend request and replied to the mail. We exchanged mails and started chatting regularly. After few such sessions, it was disclosed that Mary was that sweet girl who used to sit beside me in school and used to be my best friend .I later found out that her office was exactly opposite my office building. Thanks to Penpal-Friends, I got my old buddy back.

Some Good Memories

I was told by one of my friends that having a penpal was great for passing leisure hours. It evoked my interest to have a try at making penpals. I tried to gather some knowledge about where to go and how to have penpals. Gradually I started feeling curious about people belonging to other parts of the world and soon found there are several types of people all around the world who have something or other to attract friends.

I met a guy ‘Robert’ through this penpal site and gradually got to be good friends with him. Robert was from China and from him I came to know a lot about Chinese culture and cuisines. I started visiting the Chinese colonies in my city and tried to relate the information Robert gave me with real life experiences. I felt elated with this new taste of life. This friendship thrilled me so much that I started making more new friends from different parts of the globe and spent time learning about their culture and cuisines.

My Penpal Fixed My Computer

It was my habit to correspond with penpals from early childhood. I started penpalling from school level and still do so with the same enthusiasm. Now I have almost fifty penpals in United States only. Eventually, I found out that sometimes penpals can help you out of a difficult situation when there is nobody else you can turn to in your immediate surroundings. I have a penpal named ‘Joseph’ from the state of Michigan who is a genius in computer hardware and networking.

One day when I was in my home during the Christmas holidays and was trying to clean my room, I hit my computer accidentally with a big box that I was trying to shift. Well, it cost me heavily as my computer stopped working altogether. I was scared and there was no way to go to the service center because it was badly snowing outside.

At this point I got an idea and tried to contact Joseph through my dad’s laptop. He instructed me a very easy solution through chat and I tried that. To my relief, my computer started working soon afterwards.

Finding Compatibility in Life

I started penpalling long ago on a summer afternoon. Since then I have gathered several penpals who are still in touch with me through mails. At the very beginning, I came across an advertisement in a popular magazine, which showed a girl, slightly older than me, searching for responses from others interested in penpalling. From then onwards, I started writing to her and with time, we became good penpals. We would write two to three letters a week back and forth. I used to stay in Nevada and she was in Illinois so the geographical distance between us was quite long.

While writing mails we talked on various aspects of life and on many different topics including our favorites, hobbies, boyfriends, all the gala time we had at our universities and so on. One day my relationship with my girlfriend ended as it was not working out. By some strange coincidence, it was at a similar time that her five years’ relationship also came to an end. Both of us were depressed and broken hearted. We decided to discuss our problems through penpalling and gradually found each other more compatible than being just penpals. Although we have not met yet, now we are waiting for Christmas to take the initiative.

Way to My Career

During my university years I first became interested in writing to penpals. One day when I found my roommate typing something in her laptop, I peeped at her screen out of curiosity and found that she was writing to one of her penpals. It was at that time that I first thought of checking out the experience myself.

Gradually, I started getting responses from people all over the world. Among all my penpals, I came across Nadia who was particularly interested in pursuing MBA. Over time, we got to be real good friends. Often we discussed about various opportunities regarding our career. In course of our interaction over the internet she gradually inspired me to join a MBA program myself as it is a pretty lucrative career option.

The most amazing part of it all was that she counseled me and advised me to go in for human resource management, while she herself was studying “operations”. It was her advice and guidance that inspired me to become a dedicated worker in the industrial arena and today I really enjoy my job. Even today I have a close connection with Nadia and got to know that she is also now an employee of a top notch company. I am forever grateful to her for giving me advice that has helped me to build my career so smoothly.

Maria Helped Me to Set Trends

Maria is one of my long term penpals whom I regularly keep in touch through the internet. She stays in Paris and I stay in Sussex. I have got a lot of help from her regarding my clothing style and accessories. Being a married woman to an executive of a multinational company I have to go to various parties and gatherings. No matter wherever I go she acts as my mentor regarding the clothes. Previously I possessed very little knowledge about clothing and accessories. Since Maria is studying fashion designing and she also practices the art of putting suitable accessories it is easy for her to guide me.

Now I have become the trendsetter in the parties and gatherings and everybody appreciates me for wearing clothes fabulously and using perfect accessories with it. Although I don’t tell them the secret behind this, it is actually Maria helps me to wear normal and average clothes in alternative ways that looks really awesome and I gather lots of compliments.

A Great Help

I was planning to move to a new locality of which I knew nothing. It was obviously a terra incognita for me. Several good and bad ideas occurred in my mind regarding that place like whether the neighbors were good, or they must be very snobbish, or how the people of my age who stay there would behave with me? All these questions started hovering in my mind. At this point of time my penpals helped me a lot. As I was in habit of corresponding with various types of people on the internet I had already several penpals on the net. There were two friends who stayed in the same locality where I was about to move. They told me about the residents and also comforted me telling what people over there are like. They told me not to be so apprehensive for this reason. The best thing I can say is that they told me about a girl and gave me the specifics of her home encouraging me to give her a try. Now my new destination is more interesting to me. I can’t wait to go there.

Penpal Site Brought Back My Love

As a teenager I had a crush on Jason who was a mate in my high school. He was interested in me too .We were on the threshold of a more meaningful relationship when suddenly, my family moved from Florida to Kentucky and I lost all contacts with him. It was the hardest part of my life as I could not express my pain to anyone. I felt that I have lost him forever and it made me depressed. In the new neighborhood there was nobody to share a friendly relationship. Luckily, I suppose God had some other ideas in his mind. One day I was looking around the net and I came across a penpal site. I felt good because at last there was a hope to make new friends.

Gradually, I got many responses from many penpals and started sharing ideas with them. Life became comfortable with new pals. But one day I got a mail from someone and I discovered to my utter astonishment he was the one I lost one year back. Now it has been more than three years, I and Jason are going steady sometimes through online chatting and sometimes through dating. Thus Penpal-Friends has helped me to get my love back.

Companion to Rediscover Myself

I had been a flamboyant person from my childhood and thus loved to stay focused in things that interested me. There were so many things I loved to do such as painting, collecting coins and stamps, and practicing music. Most of all I loved to run into the lap of nature and to see the rocks, getting drenched in the fountains and shake off the dew drops from the trees and bushes. The rainy season made me nostalgic of my grand parents. However, as times ran ahead I grew up, finished my studies and was busy with an inevitable married life. I was stuck between me, my husband and my son and did not have time for myself. It is not that I am dissatisfied with them but you know there are some differences between real friends and family members.

At this point of time I came across the site of penpals and gave it a try. It was amazing; within a small period of time I had responses from at least ten people from different corners of USA who were interested in the same fields as I was. Now, in middle age I have rediscovered myself to be the same as I used to be in my childhood and share with my penpals a lot of things I love. Thanks to Penpal-Friends I have had a new beginning.

Bridging the Gaps

It is a very strange experience to have penpals from several age groups. I have many penpals who belong to different age groups. Recently, I was in a tough situation with two of them. On one hand, I was propelling a girl of 27 to pop the question to her long term beloved, and on the other, I was providing consolation to an old widower suffering bereavement of his wife. The girl was very nervous to approach the boy whom she had loved for a long time. She wrote to me about her confusion and the pain that was becoming unbearable with passage of time. The old man, on the other hand, was getting so nostalgic about his past that he was becoming gradually desperate to commit suicide.

It was, as you can understand, a critical situation for me because I had to find remedies for both of them online only. Anyway, the girl at last got her man and the old man got a new life to live with his grand children. After going through this experience at penpals, now I feel ready to exhort other penpals in their hours of distress or happiness.

Something Out of Nothing!!

Sometimes I receive letters from my penpals who write to me perhaps, the shortest of mails, consisting of two to three lines only; and I don’t have much to write them back either. But I still like to keep the stone rolling. Sometimes, when I am tired, or, not in the mood, or nothing much is happening in my life, I feel like writing only a short letter or so. I even ask my penpals some insignificant questions like- “when did you realize the need of having a girlfriend?” or, something taken straight out of a slam book like- “What are the clothes you would never feel bored of wearing?” And this way I keep the ball rolling by doing something out of nothing.

Writing to your penpals is a great thing to do and is one of the best ways you can bring change to your life and make it more interesting. I can remember, once I used to write to a friend who spoke a different language and during our long three years of penpalling, I have learnt some of his language picked up some special words. He was so happy that he sent me a dictionary immediately which, even today, helps me to spend my leisure hours creatively.

As a member of the world of penpals, I want to share some little yet, sweet thoughts with others around me. If you are in some kind of distress, feeling some great happiness or experiencing some other emotions with nobody to share them with, I must advice you to go for penpals. Whenever time allows, you can pursue it as a hobby and write to your online friends anytime you feel like communicating with them. Some people write to their friends daily, whereas, others do so only from time to time. Some people prefer to write letters no matter wherever they go or, whatever they do. Again, others prefer to write in the silence of the night before getting cozy in bed. You can share anything with your penpals, almost anything you want that makes you feel easy and unleash pent up thoughts.

Thus, my friends, letter writing is like a manuscript that gives you a chance to relieve your emotions as well as gain knowledge through interactions with others. I have been benefited by this process and am thus asking you- why don’t you start the same??

Expressing My thoughts

From my school days, I have always been a very reticent person and like to write down whatever experience I come across. I can still remember some of the bitter incidents I faced during my childhood and high school years. Being reclusive by nature, I have always been more or less sensitive whether I am being unacceptable to others in view of my opinions or appearance. But you know, sometimes, it is hard not to share my thoughts with anybody! Parents, no matter how much they love you, can never be totally friend-like.

So I preferred the way of making penpals as I realized that it was one of the best ways of gathering friends without having to appear in person in front of them. I do not feel shy to interact with my penpals as we correspond only through mails and not face to face. With increasing interaction with different kinds of people from different parts of the world, I have gradually gathered confidence about myself and my socializing abilities. The best thing is that through this process, I have gradually started interacting better with my local friends as well. It has not only been quite a different experience for me…it is also really nice.

A Touch of Vision

Getting to have penpals is a like a touch of a vision in your life. I have a friend who stays in Bristol and in course of our exchange of letters and through e-mail chat, the vision of that distant city is clear as a photograph. My friend worked in a hotel and in the very beginning he started with the day’s toils and came to rest in his small room colored in yellow, with only a tiny bulb to light the room; something which seemed to be so depressing…That very explanation was so much vivid yet so dearly conveyed that I rightly had similar feeling putting myself in his situation. That’s what made me so deeply into corresponding with this penpal.

In fact it was his writing style that taught me a lot of things specially when he wrote me about the city, its people and best of all the places. I could see very lucidly The University of Bristol's Wills Memorial Building, Bristol International Airport, Lulsgate, St Mary Redcliffe church and the Floating Harbour, Bristol, The Avon Estuary, Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and more. Now it is my time to pack the bag and meet my friend to visit his city as he is now well established and has invited me to his wedding.

PEN-ting A New Home

Hi it’s Stephanie…From my childhood, painting has been my hobby although I never had any professional training in this field. Being born and brought up in the scenic environment of Vancouver I always developed an interest to paint the landscapes. When I was in my high school a friend of mine showed me a column for the penpals in a website. As I browsed through, I was astonished to have a whole lot of interesting people who were waiting to be friend from all around the globe. However, as my field of interest lies in painting, it has always been my habit or nature as you may define, that I felt attracted to people who have some or little interest in painting. So I threw my proposal and found to be accepted by a boy eventually of my age from Quebec, who had the same interest and was a devoted practitioner of painting.

As our friendship grew stronger my hobby became my only aim to have it as my profession. With several corresponding discussions regarding painting I developed my skill unknowingly incorporating innumerable techniques suggested by him. But who knew that with my hobby my dream would become true…I was elated when he revealed the fact to come over and study visual art in the same university that I chose. It has been since then that we got intimate as life partner and professional partners too.

Through Sunshine And Storms

Penpalling to me has kind of become the ultimate shoulder I share with my pal. I started pen palling sometime around 1992. My neighbor was off for six months to an outstation and I was given the responsibility to collect all his mailing correspondences. So like any other day I received a magazine from his mail box and took that to my home. In the evening I had nothing to do as such and I was bit inquisitive about the package. So after spending quite a few minutes drumming my fingers on the table I opened it up to thumb through. Little did I know that the favor was to bring me more support, friends, caring, and happiness lasting all this time and in the years to come.

I found a penpals section there and wrote to the listed names. Today I still have one pal from the list although I've got some more during all these years. We had been through so many similar occasions, such as meeting our future spouses, our marriages, the births of our children and ill-fated termination of happy journeys. But throughout this long way we sticked to each other and offered love and support as we both knew what we were going through. We have never met, but one day I hope to meet all of them.

Different Language Different Sensation

From my childhood I have been a person interested in knowing different countries and their people, their customs, rituals, languages and almost every grain of their lifestyles. Subsequently opening a penpals website proved to be quite fantastic, something I never knew. It was like a new discovery for me. As one day I was browsing through... I got stuck checking a name “Cruzita” and with a quite scrupulous approach I invited the person to be my penpal. The person on the other side responded me at once but with broken English. It was indeed a strange as well as an ecstatic feeling, to have a voice coming all the way from a foreign land, as she was Spanish, though the voice was all in black letters.

She was a girl and with her amiability; we got to be close friends as fast as days passed, one after another. It was almost every week we used to write to each other. The best thing was that I got to know a first hand knowledge of the pros and cons of Spanish culture. My interest was deepened when she started writing little bit of Spanish language with translation. The language is extremely gracious and beautiful, something I had never come across. This boosted my interest to learn Spanish and I got admitted into an institution to learn it. Presently, we continue to be friends but we reciprocate through Spanish and this is a real Spanish sensation for me.

A Very Special Treat

Recently I logged in on my account only to realize that one of my penpals' birthday was coming up. Anne is quite a regular in the chat rooms and talks to me about a lot of things. One of her sons is studying in high school while another is a four year old toddler. Her husband’s bakery business has been growing up and though they had some problems starting off they are pretty well off now.

Anne had been helping her husband as he started the business but now he has hired hands which left her with nothing to do. While we were chatting once she told me how frustrating it was to sit at home and do nothing all day. She soon got introduced to the world of online chatting with penpals by one of her cousin’s. Since then there was no looking back. Some of our common penpals have decided to give a small surprise treat to Anne on her birthday. We are planning to send her an e-card once every hour on that day. That would be quite cool!

Chatting About The Latest iPhone

Dan a penpal of mine was ecstatic about his latest acquisition a new gizmo, and his frenzy seemed to spill over while he chatted with me. I on the other hand could not share his enthusiasm. Being a little technically challenged about the latest gadgets in the market, people like me are really surprised with the madness that usually follows a latest release. Every newspaper and every banner that you can lay eyes on, all the channels on T.V seem to be announcing the obvious day in and day out. What often seems funny is the fact that the madness seems to be short lived.

A new version of the gadget is soon released and all the attention then gets transferred to this one. I tried telling this to my cool pen pal but to no avail. He is among those gizmo freaks who can get up at 3 o’clock in the morning and stand at the back of a line that resembles nothing less then a very large snake!

Feeling Down and Out

I was chatting with a pen pal of mine, Ben the other day and was surprised by the kind of responses I was getting from him .He didn’t seem to be friendly at all and was responding in monosyllables every time I asked him a question. Nothing seemed to interest him and every time I tried a new topic he would put me out by saying that he was not interested. I realized there was something to it, and finally asked him what was wrong.

Gradually, he opened up saying that he had been feeling a little down for a few days. He had been looking for a job but was not getting the right opportunities. What frustrated him was the fact that all his friends were working and he was the only one who had been left without a job. His state reminded me about my own situation a few days ago. I told him how I have had a similar experience, but soon came out of it because of the faith that I had in my capabilities. I stuck to my guns and did not lose confidence, and I told Ben to do the same. This made Ben thank me for my concern and we have been close penpals from then on.

Shocking Revelation

The other day while chatting with Peter one of my very old penpals I was struck by something that he asked me point blank. What would be the thing that I would like to change about myself? I was quite taken aback by this one. This got me thinking, though. How could you improve perfection?

I considered myself perfect till then. I was wrong, as Peter’s response told me. He asked me whether I never had a fight with anyone and I had to agree that I have had numerous. In fact the more serious ones where the fights I have with people close to me. His next answer was quite a shock! He said that if have had fights with a few of my dear and near ones, it meant that there was something wrong with my attitude and the way I dealt with people. It is often easy to blame others for not understanding you. However, it is often more difficult to see the world from the other’s perspective. Chatting with this pen pal of mine made me realize where I was going wrong.
